Frequently Asked Questions

A: Price varies according to the complexity of the film, short, commercial or recording.  Call or email us, and we will discuss which one of our deals will suit your project needs and your budget. We work both on fixed price and hourly rates.

Depending on the project needs the files delivered by the client may vary. However, EAG subscribes to the SMPTE standard of 48kHz Audio in WAV format. We request that clients send all audio in this format. If possible, we request an OMF/AAF or Pro Tools session file so that the engineers can work directly from the DAW. Otherwise, if exporting stems and/or individual track files we ask that you put the timecode of each file as part of the title in the following format "name of track_timecode". Please use timecode denominations down to the subframes.  We ask that the video be sent along for both sync and artistic reference. Lastly, we expect all files to be properly labeled - time spent figuring out what is what will result in extra charges to be discussed beforehand with the client.

We customize each project to our client's needs so there is no single answer to this. However, we understand that the director/producer's vision for a project is often an adventure that takes time to discover. As such we generally offer at least three revisions for any given project. Nonetheless, we usually have a one-on-one conversation with the creative team first to determine the complexity of the project to best fit our services at a cost and time efficient value.

A: Binaural recording is a method of recording sound by use of two microphones with the intent to create a 3-D stereo sound sensation for the listener of actually being in the room with the performers or instruments. This effect is created using a technique known as "Dummy head recording", wherein a mannequin head is outfitted with a microphone in each ear. Binaural recording is intended for play back using headphones and will not translate properly over stereo speakers. Furthermore, binaural processing or rendering virtually places sound sources in a three dimensional space. Rather than placing the binaurl dummy head and recording live, the data gathered from the microphone can be used to process pre-recorded sounds. Please visit our binaural gallery page for some recording and rendering examples!

A: Regardless of which service you decide to do, EAG guarantees a high quality final product of every recording and mixing session. For a recording session we provide our clients with the Pro Tools file, recorded at 48k 24 bit unless otherwise requested and for a mixing session we bounce the final mixes to both 48k 24 bit and the CD standard of 44.1k 16 bit. Please note we do not share the Pro Tools mixing session unless requested beforehand. Files are sent via WeTransfer unless otherwise requested.

A: EAG is devoted to making your recordings shine. Our contract, presented at the first pre-production meeting, clearly states that all recordings are owned by the client. However, for promotional purposes, EAG holds the right to display excerpts form the recording for a minimum of one year. EAG does not sell, license, or distribute any of the recordings.
